April Book Club

Hi, everybody, I’m super excited for the first book I’ll be reading! For April, I’ve chosen a book that’s really been getting a lot of buzz – I’ve heard a lot about it, and it’s been on several book lists. So this month I’ll be reading…

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

“For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.”

-Available from Amazon here – or try your local library to check it out (as a librarian I just can’t help myself, support your local library everybody)!

I’m excited to read it. I have pretty broad tastes and I feel like I tend to enjoy books more often than not, so I think I’ll probably enjoy this one, too. It has something of a mystery aspect, which I usually find interesting, though I have a feeling there are going to be some parts that are difficult to read. The “two young men […] become intrigued by her wild beauty” gives off some immediate red flags.

Anyway, if you’d like to read along with me, just read at your own pace, and come back at the end of the month to discuss the book! If you’d like, leave a comment here letting me if you’d like to read this book, or if there’s another really buzzy book you’ve read recently that you enjoyed.
